Cosmetic Surgery Treatments for Acne

If you look at it superficially – acne is just an inflammation of skin which most often than not affects adolescents manly due to the onset of puberty and hyperactivity of hormones in their body. However, acne goes much deeper than that. The condition of acne, especially when it occurs in teenagers, more often than not is accompanied with low esteem, depression and overall desperation to feel loved and cherished. The treatment of acne, hence, is not only physiological but psychological as well.

It is often seen that adults who had suffered from sever acne condition when they were young develop some level of emotional adjustment problems in their adulthood. They have a much lower self-esteem than those who never suffered from this condition, and are easy prey to depression when things go wrong.

What Treatment Is The Best For Acne?

There are many, many types of treatments recommended for acne, each one of them addressing the specific condition of the patient. Starting from standard antibiotics to birth control pills to laser treatment, there is a vast array to choose from. A few major treatments are highlighted below:

1. Laser treatment – this particular treatment involves the use of laser beam to dry and clean out the acne from the face in particular. This is also a beauty treatment as well, since it removes the scars if any left by the burst out acne. The laser treatment is quick, almost totally painless and has a very high success rate.

2. Collagen injections – this is one of the oldest and most used of all methods. Collagen is injected right under the scar pushing it up and hence, making it disappears. The results are often simply amazing. The downside of this treatment is that it has to be repeated every three to six months – which kind of takes out the fun from it.

3. Dermabrasion – the terms is actually self-explanatory. This is a process where the epidermis (the upper layer of the skin) is removed through abrasion. As the upper skin layer is removed, a new layer would be gradually formed by the body – and this time this new skin would be flawless. This particular treatment is contraindicated for u-shaped and ice pick scars since these would rather become more prominent by this treatment. It is also not advisable for people who have dark skin since the difference in the sin color (facial skin becomes light pink) would be counterproductive.

4. Chemical peeling – this is a little risky procedure – risky because sometimes it aggravated the acne so much than you end up with double the headache. However, normally the chemical peels is excellent for removing all types of scars, including the most stubborn U-shaped and ice-pick scars. The downside here is that the process - from the pre-preparation to post preparation – sometimes can take a whole month and even more.

5. Fat transfer – this is a better choice to the collagen implant though both are used in a similar manner. Fat (instead of collagen) is injected in the scars making them to come up. In this manner the scars disappear. It is better than collagen because it takes longer to melt away and hence instead every three to six months as in the case of collagen, you would have to repeat the process every six months to one year.

Though each of the treatments given above can be used as a stand alone cure, normally a combination of two or more is recommended to take care of all the visible scars.
